Ensuring and improving animal well-being

The ground: you want a healthy life.

In its struggle against pathologies, humanity keeps on searching for new successful drug remedies.

Around 36 million rodents are anesthetized each year, to help achieve around 16 million research programs. Some animals may unfortunately suffer from this situation.

Extract from the “Americans for Medical Progress (AMP)” web page: “We understand that the topic of animal research can be highly-charged and we respect the views of all individuals. Nevertheless, we cannot deny the fact that animal-based research has been a part of virtually every medical discovery for the past 100 years, and that even in this time of rapid technological advances, animal studies remain a necessary component of scientific advancement today and for the foreseeable future.”

Anestéo believes laboratory animals are living creatures that deserve to be treated with care and compassion

How do we help ?

Although it is an acceptable ‘norm’ to find new drug candidates to cure human (and animal) pathologies, we need to favorise animal well-being. As an official supplier of major preclinical research laboratories, Anestéo is committed to excellence and good practices in gas anesthesia, in order to protect both the searchers health and the animals well-being, along with the best repeatability of anesthesia processes.

Due to its embedded algorithm, our AST-01 animal anesthesia workstation is able to behave like a smart assistant. Therefore, it will help the lab technician to determine the best dose and time to keep the animal in a very stable and deep narcosis. Neither overdose, nor underdose. Based on several years of scientific statistics, the AST-01 calculations are precise and adapted to each weight and species. The induction boxes made by Anestéo are 100% airtight and fitted with a patented locking-unlocking device.

By maintaining sufficient and extremely stable narcosis.

During the starting phase and then the maintaining phase of inhalation anesthesia, our AST-01 workstation will maintain a perfectly constant level of halogenated gas dosage and flow, thus preventing any animal suffering.

By endorsing the 3Rs.

  1. refinement of tests so animal distress or pain is minimal.
  2. reduction of the number of animals used in a study.
  3. replacement, whenever possible, of animal experiments with non-animal experiments.
